How can you tell if a guy likes you or just wants you?

I sit with this guy at lunch and I think I might like him. We flirt at lunch a lot and stuff and he's always saying stuff like you keep distracting me (he says it in a nice way) and if me and his friend switch seats hes alway slike YES I get to sit next...

to the girl. He talks to me almost the whole time and he openly lets me know he thinks im hot and stuff but I know that doesn't mean he likes me. He also said he would come visit me when my class starts for dance. And when he was behind me and I was being slow going down stairs he put his hands on my hips.
Ughh how do I know if he likes me or just thinks im hot?

sound's like he likes you to me.
but you never know with guys.
start talking to him more, outside of school- hang out a few times.
if he doesn't try anything, and seem's genuinly interested in you-
then he probably does.
