How can we get me brother to leave the house?

I live with my mom and brother..
My brother is 17 years old, and he is too violent... He uses curse words to talk to me an my mom all the time. He has been in a mental instituion before, he has even been to boot camp due to a violet act... He is...

constantly high and he steals from us all the time to supply his vice.. He takes credit/debit cards.. jewelry... We don't know what to do with him.. We have asked him to get his stuff and leave to go with his friends but he says to Make him...He threatens to hit me... When I walk he jumps and acts like he is actually goign to perform this act. He has said that if he could get away with killing anyone it would be me. I have come scared of him and try to get out of his way to avoid it. What can we do to get him out of our lifes???

That or see a judge and get a discreet restraining order on him, a sheriff will serve the papers and enforce the conditions if need be.

I had the same problem with my brother when he was at the same age. he was on drugs at the time. do you think that could be a reason to his behaviour and to him stealing? I didnt think it was possible but my brother was on heroin.
the only way we managed to get him away from us was by my mum ordering an injunction against him, so he couldnt go 50meters near us, the house or our school at the time.
it takes a lot for a mother to do that to her own son though, it was very hard for my mum, so its best you speak to your mum when its just you and her, talk about it and support her throughout.
I hope I could be of some help, but its very hard to do something yourself in that sort of situation, I felt powerless at the time x
