I live in australia, and im realy upset because people never relise that im part mexican, and im proud of it!!! Is there anyway I can act or look more mexican without getting brown eye contacts???

Answer #1

I’m not entirely sure why it’s so important to you. I mean, besides the fact at most you are only 1/4 ethnically Mexican, ethnic and national pride is pretty silly. It isn’t as though you had any choice in your ethnicity, nor did you put any effort into where your parents are from. Furthermore, race is a human invention, there is not biological difference between people of different races; there is no black or asian, or hispanic gene.

I just don’t get racial pride. To me, I’m human, that’s all that’s important.

Answer #2

Try deepening your accent, this is essentially how I tell people are Mexican.

Also you might want to take into consideration the people that might think that pointing out the fact that your Mexican might be offensive too you, The reason they think that is that Mexico has so many negative views, Swine Flu being the most common now. I guess the best way to get people to notice the Mexican side of you is telling them. Who knows you might have an ongoing convo about how great it is to be Mexican :)

Answer #3

you could wear a lil things that represent the mexican heritage you have like a bracelet with the mexican flag colors on it or an aztec necklace or something like that

Answer #4

brown is the dominant gene or is it trait?

I understand that if a parent has blue eyes and the other has brown the child will 99% be born with brown eyes

so your mom as part mexican hasnt got the brown eyes you say a mexican has.

so as jeremy says: ‘Only an idiot believes the stereotype that they all have dark tanned skin and brown eyes…’

Answer #5

You do realize…there are blond haired, blue eyed “native” Mexicans, right?

Only an idiot believes the stereotype that they all have dark tanned skin and brown eyes…

Answer #6

I would wanna have green eyes ! I think those are gourgeouse !(= Well yeah yuh can, You don’t need to change to be known as Mexican. As long as your Proud of your race !:)

Answer #7

Great… let them know… by people looking at you they don’t read your mind…

Answer #8

Im persian and this is the DUMBEST thing I’ve heard!!! Swine flu did not first appear in Mexico it first appeared in China in the 80’s FYI

Answer #9

I don’t think there is a way to literally look “Mexican”. I’m Persian with olive skin, dark hair and hazelish eyes and can pass for Mexican.

Answer #10

Hm, since you seem rather eager to show this info of yours. Mind directing me so I can stop expressing bias?

Answer #11

I still don’t see how you being Persian has anything to do with this but alright. As you’re not familiar with the preconcieved notions during our time I’ll take it as an expression of your nationalism?

Answer #12

Ah, I see someone didn’t read my answer right. You see, if you watch television, which I hope you do, you’ll notice the on-going connection between swine flu and Mexicans. Not that the media presents facts but that does encourage people to judge.
