Ask god. If he answers you in an *unambiguous* way, then there is. If not, then there either is no personal god, or that god is incapable of answering. Either way, you need no longer concern yourself with the idea, since it necessarily implies everything you've been told was wrong.

If you want to save the trouble though, you can skip to the answer; there's no god.

It's you're choice to believe if there is a god or not. Do some studying on different kinds of religions and if you feel you should believe a certain book then choose that religion, if you don't believe all that mumbo jumbo then don't - become an athiest. No-one can tell for certain that there is a god, it's just a belief.

No way, no proof that he even exists.
I find it hard to believe in the unproveable.

There's as much evidence for a god (any god) as for any other mythical being. It's your choice if you want to believe in one, but I tend to avoid believing in anything there's no evidence for.

So you believe in a god, but you know he’s not there???
Cause you already know he’s not going to answer you???

I am with Arachnid on this one! My motto is: Seeing is believing!!!

People apply this toward nearly everything in the world, except when it gets to their god!

I say do some research. It bugs me when someone asks a question like this and everyone jumps in with their own opinions trying to force someone to decide. I had this roadblock in my life recently too. I wanted to get both sides of the story, you know - evolution vs. creation. A lot of people say science and religion cannot exist together. But if people took a scientific approach to researching Christianity (or any other religion), they would find that there is evidence about the Bible and God.

I could go on and on about this, but I won't. I encourage you to search the Web, go to the library, ask your pastor, ect. to find out historical and scientific EVIDENCE about God vs. no God. But be very careful - don't believe what just one person says unless they themselves have gotten their information from a reliable source.

PLEASE read this book called Faithsearch, by Dr. Don Beryle. This man was a highly respected athiest who set out to disprove Christianity and the Bible. He did years of research and, after compiling the EVIDENCE, found more proof supporting the Christian religion than he did disproving it. He is now a Christian.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do as much research as you can and find as much EVIDENCE that you possibly can find before you make a final decision. Find out both sides of the story. This is a personal decision that will affect your life, not the opinions of others.

P.S. And by the way, what's wrong with believing in something that you can't see? What if there really is a God, but you made the decision to not follow Him? Think of it like insurance. You get flood insurance on your house - even though there might not be a flood, you're covered in case there is one. There might not be heaven and hell, but you're covered just in case there are.

P.S.S. I am now a Christian rock-solid in my belief after reading Faithsearch. I now know there is more evidence support Christianity than there is disproving it.

Not can't see, but there is no evidence for.

***What if there really is a God, but you made the decision to not follow Him?***

What if there is a god, and I followed the wrong one? Won't he be more pissed off than if I simply didn't believe at all?

***You get flood insurance on your house - even though there might not be a flood, you're covered in case there is one.***

Floods are well established issues. Gods aren't.

Nobody can answer that question because NOBODY KNOWS. Its all about belief, more specifically 'faith' (belief without knowing).

Ghee Tennent when will you get it in your scull that someone can’t hate something which they believe to not exist??? How many times must we ask you if you hate Santa or the Tooth Fairy???

On the other side, can you proof without a doubt that people believing in a deity do not carry around hatred or mischief in their hearts because of a certain “HIM” who didn’t take care of their baby who died, 6yr old got cancer, husband/wife got shot right next to the church etc etc?

*** ...before it's to late.***

What do you mean? Before its to late for what???
Before I or anyone of my family get killed in an accident? (because that happens to Christians to you know)
Before it is the end of the world? You know it should have been the end a few times and you might have to wait another billion years hey?
Before I die and nothing happens???
What???

***And Capt. I hope you know we just didn't pop up out of the Blue***

I don't know that, and neither do you... you can believe whatever explanation you want, to make yourself feel more important. But don't pretend to know something you don't; because you'd be lying to yourself and defying God in the process. NOBODY knows what really happened, including YOU. So deal with it.

***I will show you that God does exist***

You mean you will TRY to CONVINCE him that God exists... you can't SHOW him ANYTHING.

Obviously god isn't real, it's an anthropological concept whose purposes are but a reflection of our own.

--I hope you know we just didn't pop up out of the Blue--

Actually, science explains how we got here, based on the evidence and scientific reasoning.
