How can I get him to listen long enough to realize I still care?

I have this friend that I just met this year, and we didn’t expect to get as close as we did. I actually met him through a friend, and we turned into best friends. Eventually though, I started to fall for him, and he did the same. We went from just walking to class together and talking online to meeting before and after school, talking online until midnight, then on the phone until sunrise, and more. He knew everything about me, and I knew everything about him. One day though we realized we had crossed the line when he hugged me after school and didn’t let go. It really scared him away, and now he’s telling me I forced him to change and he wants me out of his life. It just happened randomly, and I want him to know I still care and only want to be friends, but he won’t listen to me, no matter what I say. Everyone’s telling me to leave him, but after getting so close to him, I don’t think I can. what should I do?

My advice is to approach him and bluntly tell him that you still care about him. Be strong.
