How can I convince my mom to let me go away to college?

Hi. I am 17 years old and this next school year is my last of high school and im realy excited about college, the school work im over with, its easy. Bt everythime I think of that I get happy and then anxious becasue my mom doesn't want me to go live on...

my own in a college away from new york City. She says im not going to be able to care for myself, I wont eat, im not ready to do my laundry and be clean, blah blah. When she came from the dominican republic she was in college, but ovver there is different, worlds apart. I dont think she really understands how living on campus is so life changing. im sick of concrete, what can I do to convince her?

Well, first, hi.

Then I think you should prove to her that you're capable of "surviving" alone.
As son as you come back home, you can do the laundry, for example, or clean the house, tidy your room if needed to. I don't know, just prove her wrong.
Go buy groceries, try to cook dinner, etc..
Then you should try to convience her that you're almost adult now, and that she should let you grow up by yourself, a bit. That's the hardest part of it. Every parents has problems letting his kid become adult, because they almost always think that they'll loose him/her.

Try to tell your mom, that even though you love her (because, yes, you actully do love your mom), you need to learn independance. Tell her that, in college, you won't be ALL alone, so there's NO NEED TO WORRY (because all she does is worry, that's all), that you can take care of yourself (and that's where you can say "didn't you notice, for the last days/week(s), I've been taking care of myself almost alone!" etc...)
