Tow my car with a boot?

I got a boot on my car. I wanted to tow it myself. Can I do this or do I have to wait until the city tows it?

WELL THE BOOT WAS FOR UNPAID PARKING TICKETS. I DIDNT WANT TO MY CAR TO SIT OUTSIDE ACCUMULATING MORE TICKETS BECAUSE I CANT MOVE IT, SO I WAS GOING TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A STORAGE PLACE UNTIL I CAN PAY TO GET THE BOOT OFF. you SAID I HAVE TO TELL THE POLICE IM MOVING MY CAR? THEY STILL WILL GO TO THE PLACE AND IMPOUND IT?
