Can you answer my harry potter question?

buddha? Asked by funguy over 2 years ago, 15 answers.

Okay, I haven't read the books, but I want to know if what my friend told me could be true. Could Neville be the one that was in the prophecy and not Harry Potter?

Oh good.

I wasn't sure if it was a big secret that Neville really is the Chosen One. Since I haven't finished the 7th book yet...

Idk, I'm confused when it comes to the prophecy. I thought it was Harry and then it said Neville but then it could be Harry. I really don't know.

Yeah. It could've been Neville, but Voldemort assumed that the prophecy was talking about the Potter family so he went and killed them, hence changing Harry's and Neville's respective destiny.

Yes but remember the phrophicy...

The one with the power to vanquish the dark lord approaches ... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies ... the dark lord will mark him as his equal but he will power the dark lord knows not ... and either must die at the hands of the other for neither can live while the other suvives ... born as the seventh month dies.

Look it said THE DARK LORD WILL MARK HIM AS HIS EQUAL
Harry is a 'Half-Blood' and so is Voldemort but Neville is a 'Pure-Blood'
So Voldemort chooses Harry over Neville because they are both 'Half-Bloods'

YES, HE COULD HAVE BEEN. HE WAS BORN THE SAME YEAR IN JULY WHICH THE PROPHECY STATED, BUT VOLDEMORT CHOSE (BECAUSE IT WAS THE ONLY ONE HE KNEW OF) HARRY TO TRY AND KILL BECAUSE HE DIDNT KNOW ABOUT NEVILLE. HE LEFT HIS MARK, THE LIGHTNING STAR, ON HARRY'S FORHEAD WHICH IS ANOTHER THING THE PROPHECY STATED, SO HE CHOSE HARRY EVEN THOUGH HE COULD HAVE CHOSEN NEVILLE.

ok, well in the prophecy it states that the child was to be born in july. bothe Harry and neville could have been that. but, voldemort thought that if he killed both, then he'd be fine. well he went to kill harry first and of course didn't succeed. that made harry survive him once and the prophecy called for 3 times to be the one in the prophecy. sorcer's stone. check. tom riddle. check. that makes it 3. so harry was the one of the prophecy even though it could have been neville, but voldemort chose harry so yeah. hope I answered your question...
