is it okay to use wd-40 on my hair clippers (blades)?

I did that and it worked fine. They recommend a graphite based lubricant instead, but I'm not sure why. The pros use the spray lubes they sell just for that purpose. It'd be interesting to see if the ingredients are the same as wd-40.
