Absolutely NOT... whoever says that is full of sh*t. Gothic and emo are stereotypes, styles and music genres. They're NOT evil.

Statanists are the ones that believe in the devil. Satanism and stereotypes are WAY different.

Labels are for soup cans.

Gothic is just a label but mainly its a style of clothing, if I went by labels then I'd be a little goth girl. But Emo is mainly a style of music and clothes sometimes. It has nothing to do with worshiping Satan. That's one of the biggest stereotypes there is. Just because your wearing black doesn't mean that you love the devil. Very wrong.
I had a little 6th grader ask me if I worshiped the devil and cut myself because of the way I dressed. I of course informed him otherwise but this is really something you need to know. It only spreads ignorance if you don't know the difference between religion and personal choice of clothing.

Hope this helps though! ^^

omg, you're joking me -_-
Emo was started in 1985 by a post. It was a slang word to describe bands that become emotional on stage. The original Emo band was Fugazi. Most of the bands took it as an insult, but you know how the media is which basically sought to make it a labile. The original Emo is modern day screamo. Fans of this new genre dressed in plaid shirt over a band t-shirt or some other t-shirt, tight black jeans, fringed bangs, thick black glasses(if they wore glasses). As it began to loose it's popularity the media grouped new bands under neath the labile, thus indie emo was born. Not to long ago, the same thing happened the style changed a bit. It also become popular for people to slit their wrist to fit into the fad. Now all Emo has become is black tight jeans, black hair, black shirts with childish designs, going around acting like a melancholic jack-@$$(mention that poser store HotTopic watch20how many perk up though).
Way back when, when the Goths sacked the Romans, The Goths attacked with such brutality maliciousness, when the siege was over people began to misuse the term Goth to insult morbid ugly things, such as graveyards, abandoned buildings, The gothic Cathedrals(most commonly recalled in modern day), etc.
Authors supposedly drew inspiration from these places would write dark romantic books(hence the birth of Romanti Goth). In the age of big screen production the stories in books were made into movies. The characters were portrayed cladded either in black or white(sometimes red), pale skin, darkened eyes.. In later years after the Post Punk movement a reporter accidentally called a Gothic, since they portrayed their selves in black, darkened eyes, pallid skin, in 1979. Within a year(if even) the Gothic Subculture began to take form due to that simple little mistake.
In modern day Goths express beauty, patience, intellectuality. What makes Goths, well, Goth would be the literature, music, style, art, even style of make-up. Each vary depending on the individual. However, one thing all Goths share is the strive to create the strive for knowledge.
*Goth is not about rebelion or expressing rebelion*
a little fast fact, 77% of Goths ARE Christians

no, those are sterotypes
feelings, emotions and religions play NO part in any label or sterotype
dressing in black has nothing to do with worshipping the devil either
satanism (a religion) beleive in the devil
if goth, emo or anytone else did beleive in the devil, there religion would be satanism
but they way people dress is not an indicator or there religion
because wearing black does not mean they beleive in the devil
