Speaks English well, 'speaks good English' would be grammatically incorrect use of the word 'good', I believe.
However, it's been a decade since I was in an English class, so I could be wrong.
I think it's well...yeah english is a weird language but we all speak it HAHA
ok... if I remember right... my FRENCH teacher (he might also teach a bit of english) told me that the 'good' in 'speaks good english' would describe english. I dont think you are trying to say that english is good. you cannot say 'he speaks good'. instead, you would say 'he speaks WELL'. so, you can there fore say, 'he speaks english well'.
I hope I remember correctly! haha
Excellent! That was what I thought but needed some other opinions just to be sure. Thanks!
both are actually acceptable in different situations.
'he speaks English well'
is more formal and is more appropriate when discussing someone's qualities to another person. use this in an essay.
'he speaks good English'
is less formal and is more appropriate when discussing someone's qualities directly with that person. use this when you're hanging out.
I believe my English teacher from last year always said to use well when dealing with ability, or health, and to use good, when you are using it to describe acts. 'I do good' 'I am well'
so I believe it would be 'I speak English Well' (most proper anyways)
Either, 'good' is a bit more casual I suppose, but 'well' is the proper way. I'd stick with that.
I always use good.
'Good' is an adjective - it describes a noun (English).
'Well' is an adjective - it describes a verb (I speak).
So you just have to remember what you are describing - sometimes it will be your speaking but if you phrase it differently it will be your English.
Darn, I meant ''well' is an ADVERB'. Not an adjective too! Makes the whole answer useless, doesn't it?
I think its 'I speak english well' it sounds better and uses the queens english
speak english well

Do you use "good" or "well"?
