Thunder Robot Asked by funadvice about 1 month ago, 8 answers.

Ok I live in a pretty small town and I am vary smart. I want to go to a great collage and have a great job. But our public highschool is not very good and people always get in fights there. But there is a private highschool here where you get a better education, no fights, andyou were uniforms which I've always wanted to have. But the thing is it is a catholic school and im athiest. What do I do?

weird, you want uniforms? anyway, I also go to a private school which is against my religion. want to trade? lol.

My point is, you can put up with those annoying private schools. It isn't for too long, and it will be worth it. I dont think Catholics allow people to go against their religion so you will probably have to do whatever religious stuff they require. You can lie too! If they have you write something like a statement of faith you can lie and say you ARE religious. You'll make it

PS. just be glad it isn't a Christian school. every single freakin day we do the same stuff. pledge to the christian flag and the bible, take stupid prayer requests in which most of the time people pray for stuff like stubbed toes, or thank their God that there 'was only one death' when tornadoes happen. the place p!sses me off. does that one death not matter or something? anyway.

Go to the better school. I attended a private girl's school and wanted to go to public school. My parents wanted me to get a better education. The education I received was excellent and though I didn't agree with much they did and said, I found friends there that felt just as I did. I received a full academic scholarship to the University of Virginia, and it was because of my excellent private school education. I am not saying that someone has to attend a private school to enter a good college, that is far from the case. I just think that if your assigned public school is not academically challenging...go to the private catholic school...Just don't feel you have to challenge them at every turn about your beliefs. You won't win and they won't want to hear it...
and I agree...it could be worse...
I wouldn't lie on a faith statement, but there are ways to word things.
You could say that you are in the process of defining your beliefs...
or that, you have questions about your beliefs...

Give this Catholic private school a shot and, since its probably going to be temporary, you need to learn to adapt to their beliefs the best you can.
If the Catholic private school is your only option, then you need to try to get along even though you might disagree with the beliefs. I don't know how they'll react to you being Atheist, but, you can always ask questions about the Catholic faith even though it might be hard to become a religious person.
Good luck, and I hope the Cathlocs treat you well. They better respect you and your beliefs.

With no God you have no worries! You can lie, cheat, and steal feeling no remorse. Go to the school: sure, you will be lying to others in the name of their God, but not yours, for you have none.

Unfortunately, Karma will get you.

I would suggest giving it a try. See just how 'catholic' it is - many catholic schools are only religious in passing. The catholic church is surprisingly up to date when it comes to science, too. If you find that their religious affiliation is interfering with your education, find somewhere else to go.

pittdad: So are you saying that the only reason you don't go around stealing, lying, murdering, etc, is because you are afraid of retribution from god? That if you had a 'free pass' to, say, kill someone with permission from god, that you'd go do so without remorse? If so, good news! The bible tells you to stone adulterers, witches, blasphemers, rebellious children, and many more.

I'm guessing, however, that you don't do that for the simple reason that those who claim their moral code is defined by God and The Bible, don't. Anyone who did live by the moral code defined by the bible would be a thoroughly unpleasant person.

Most Catholic schools do not require you to be Catholic to attend. But keep in mind, you will still be required to participate in Catholic religious activities. If you're ok with that, then go for it.

I would attend where you get a better education.
