Gift basket for a newborn baby ... ideas??

I want to make a really nice gift basket for someone I know who is having a baby.. does and e one have any good ideas of what to put in it?? I'm really stuck

Bottles, clothes, burp cloths, booties, bibs, hats, socks, rattles, onesies, baby bath products, diapers, monitors...I used to make a lot of these types of baskets when my friends were all having babies. The best thing to remember is don't go with what is trendy...stick to the basics. Oh and instead of using wrapping paper you can get one of those really soft blankets and wrap the stuff in that, use diaper pins to secure it and pin a rattle on top...really cute and you're not wasting money on paper.

my mom just had a baby and everyone who gave her baskets filled them with baby lotion and soap and a blanket, diapers, binkies that sort of thing

Make a diper cake. they are really cool, look them up

johnsons and johnsons have a great range of skincare, bath, body ect and other products
they also have a lot of products for babys, newborns, and mothers

My grandmother had a really clever idea of taking thick wash cloths and turning them into bibs. Granted it was grandma work so it wasnt a masterpiece but when that kid learns how to feed him/herself you want something heavey duty.

clothes, cute baby shoes and slippers, bottles, pacifeirs, baby bibs, a nice card, some outfits, maybe a coat if you want for this winter cus its already gettin cold

I got a gift basket full of baby wash, wipes, nappy cream, etc, and it was the best thing I got at both of my baby showers! everyone will buy clothes/bibs/blankets/socks! and the wash stuff etc is really something you will need everyday, and is not that cheap either! I still have baby wash and creams from my 2nd sons baby shower and he is nearly 1 yo. which saved me a fortune in the supermarket!
