How can i get rid of acne scars?

I have so many scars from acne and scratches on my face and legs is there any effective but not expensive way to get rid of it?
I've tried exfoiliating but it doesnt work for me, and also my doctor gave me a vitamin A acid which also doesnt work!

use detol on legs and rest clearasil

I had some cocoa butter I have been using on my legs and its supposed to really heal scars but cause breakouts on your face...so I added some tea tree oil (really cheap at all natural stores or drugstores) and I put the mixture on some of my old acne scars and they actually look a lot better from like just one night
