even though captainassassin is being a jerk he is partially right in what you should do. Since you have just broken up im assuming the only thing you can do is leave her alone. If you contact her you will almost for sure push her away. If you don't care how long it takes than you need to take ONE month off of your ex-girlfriend and have absolutly no contact with her. If she contact you within this one month period just act like you are happy and content with life and try to keep conversations to a minimum while still displaying a sense of happiness.

During this month do things to improve yourself such as working out, dating, etc. Do things that will make you happy. Once the one month comes up call your ex up and just say, hey, would you like to go grab some coffee with me sometime soon. If she says she doesn't want to you can either wait longer or just say, don't be silly, it's just coffee. But when your getting coffee with her you need to make sure she sees a good side of you, the side that she fell in love with. Just be yourself, she loved you at one point, she can love you again.

But the most important thing to do is go for a month without seeing her so bonds that have been broken can heal and she can forget about all the bad and remember all the good. No one wants to rememeber the bad parts of a relationship the more time you give her the better off you will be.
