I know exactly what you mean. People think that if a guy and a girl are friends then there are feelings there when there doesn't have to be. I have a couple best friends that are guys just because it easy to talk to them. The best you can do is ignore what people are saying or thinking about it. Talk to your boyfriend and just make sure he understands that you guys are just friends and that's it. As long as it won't interfere with you and your boyfriends relationship then ignore everyone else. If Liam is a good friend then you don't want to lose that. Good friends are not always easy to find. I say forget what everyone else says and be friends with Liam.
