Shihtzu keeps getting fleas what do you use?

My shihtzu keeps getting fleas. Rub ons and oral prevention have made her extremely sick. What do you use???

Have you tried flea powder, or maybe a flea collar? but I agree with stephanie, if it is that bad you should rather take her to the vet.

front line is the best, collars dont work..it just localizes the area, they will go to the rear of the animals and sometimes collars cause irritation…use frontline and treat a couple months..works great!

Frontline…it’s little drops down the back…Make sure you get her weight catagory…

There are natual remedies, that supposedly work also…Diatomaceous Earth, being one method which will keep the flea popluation down outside as well as inside. You can pick it up at the health food store, or a gardening center.

You can also whip up a concoction of 1 thinly sliced lemon & 2 tablespoons of Rosemary leaves…pour 1 quart of boiling water over it and let it steep overnight. Then pour thru a strainer, and add 1 teaspoon of Tree Tea Oil. Put in a spray bottle. It doesn’t kill fleas, but it does repell them…You can spray your dog as often as you like. It also softens the coat, and sooths itchy skin.

Vacuming everyday, also picks up tons of adult fleas…
