Yeah, it can damage you hair. Take it this way, extreme heat isn't good for hair. If you do use a flat iron, get a serum that will protect your hair.
revlon makes good flat irons, and they're not expensive. if you dont want to damage your hair make sure to spray it with a heat protectant before you use that flat iron.
CHI by Farouk... it is about $100+ in a salon (it's what most professional salons use...), but you can usually find them on ebay for around $60-$80! I have had 2 of them in my life and the first one lasted for 4 years and I put it through a lot, just got my second one a few months ago (they come with a 1 year warranty)! Definately worth the price!
I have a CHI its really good
if CHI is to expinsive 4 u ( because they are really expensive)
you can get the GVP its said to work the same as CHI for a fraction of the price

ya itll damage your hair I have a conair and it work great! and it isnt that expensive
my straightener is revlon.
it works REALLY REALLY good.
I had a conair one.
but it wasss like 30 dollars.
and it didn't work that well after awhile.
it cracked and everything so yeah.
the revlon was like 50.
I've had it for like over a year now and its still good.

I have a GHD and I secretly think it stands for Good Hair Day! ;P
I use a protectant spray and my hair is in great condition.

I have an chi by farouk. it works really good, I got it in a salon, but it costs like 120.00 dollars. I also use tis stuff called silque with it.

I was wondering what flat iron works the best for...anybody here. Something not to expensive but not cheap. I also want to know if doing this to my hair will damage it now and later in life. Thank for your help!!!
