Feeling for characters in books?

I had to read this book for school bud not buddy. Dot you think the author makes you feel so familar with bud? The way he describes everything...or in any book the way the author descrbies something
What are you point of view on this matter?

omg, I read that book. it was really good. I think he's an awesome writer by the way. the author made me feel everything bud was feeling, and see everything, just made me feel present at that time.

I read 'forever' by judy blume god I felt so attached to each person and at the end I sooo cried. I will have to read the book you are talking bout.
