How do my father and I come to an understanding with each other?

Okay so I had volleyball open gym and I was wearing a tank top and my father and I started arguing over what I was wearing. Last time my family and I went to the beach my dad wanted me to wear one of my brothers t-shirts over my swimsuit, which wasn’t that revealing. Even if my shorts go down to mid-thigh my dad still thinks that I’m wearing next to nothing. If I wear an off the shoulder shirt my dad will keep telling me to readjust it. My mom doesn’t have a problem with the clothes I wear, she’s the one who usually buys them.

Answer #1

To him you are his little girl. Instead of arguing, try coming to some sort of compromise. You can get tank tops that aren’t revealing, ones with thicker straps and that aren’t that low.

Answer #2

Every father has trouble coming to grips with their daughter no longer being their little girl and becoming a woman. The same psychology that prevents parents from being sexually attracted to their offspring also makes the very idea of their kid’s sexuality uncomfortable. Anything more flattering than a burlap sack probably seems too revealing to your dad. He probably needs a few reality checks before he will lighten up. Adolescence isn’t just an awkward time for kids but for parents as well.

Answer #3

The tank top actually did have thick straps and the neckline was medium.

Answer #4

Compromise with your father..he will understand u defintely
