Is she still my sister?

Asked by basketball about 1 year ago, 3 answers.

My sister is 17 and she just got emancipated. My dad is telling me that she isn't my sister anymore. Is that true?

not true .... all it means is that in the eyes of the law your sister is an adult ...your parents aren't responsible for her and she is on her own.....

Dear basketball,
Your father probably was very upset over this and some people who can not handle certain problems will try to pretend they aren't there. Your sister will always be your sister and probably needs you more now than ever. If your parents refuse to allow your sister to live at home (in Canada...she will become a client of Family Services and Social Assistance will kick in and put her up in an apt. and make sure she has food and proper counselling).
Sue....good luck
