How to get family diplomacy for the holidays?

Bananas! Asked by octobersun 11 months ago, 2 answers.

My family tends to argue during the holidays. It is hard...mom is mad at grandma because she hurt mom's feelings about the gravy. Brother gets mad at uncle for racist joke. Dad is annoyed with brother for making a huge deal out of stupid joke, plus everyone has to yell at deaf grandpa to get him to understand what the problem is.

Argh. How do you keep it nice and friendly?

Just approach them individually prior and ask them to make it an enjoyable Holiday season for the family (consider everyone) - other than that, all you can do is your best to have a nice time - there's no guarantee at the next get-together, you'll all be there, so make it count...I wish you the best !!
