Do you mean in general emos or the people that are emos?
Because if you say that you don't like all emos then you are stereotyping. Not a good thing to do.
I don't look at the way people dress to determine if I like them (that would just be dumb and you could miss out on some really great people by doing this).
this is an interesting question
when I was back at school some 8 years ago (ahhh) I would dress smart/casual, not like a chav or a goth was the names for my time and you fell into one or the other at school. All my Friends fell into the grunge era and dressed in dark clothes or huddies and went to gigs and moshed ect but not me I stayed me and dressed smart casual. Boy did I stand out when I went to my first gig. I attracted a lot of un-wanted attention purely based on the clothes I was wearing.
I think people are sterotyped no matter what clothes you wear, it's not right to stereotype but it's the world we live in.
The point of my story is I never fell on either side of the fence and I get along with most people who are out to be fun and have fun. I feel sorry for the really young youth of today who are steretyped by older generations as I am at that age where I still have a baby face and fall into this category quite a lot where I am looked down on my older gernerations. When I was growing up I always had respect for my elders but now I have sterotyped the majority of them becuase of the way they steroetype me. I didn't to stereotype people it just happens and I judge people individually if I meet them but I stereotype the general ages groups not individuals.
If I'm in a pub or at a social event and someone eye balls me looking for trouble I look the other way. If someone chats to me in a sociable way I chat back. It doesn't matter to me what age you are, what clothes you wear, what sexuality you are. None of that is important in my eyes. Its the person and there personaility I go for.
To sum up my answer to your question, I would say yes and no it really depends on the person.
Was there a reason for the question I wonder???
I find nothing at all wrong with emos. I never criticise any type of person. It's not in my nature at all to be what they call "racist". I'm unsure about whether or not I was once a so-called "emo", but even if I was, I'm not ashamed. I am who I am. It's what makes us human. We are all different, but we can also learn to get along if we try. =o)
