Ear cartilage piercing information?

I've wanted this done for aaages and since I leave school on friday I'm planning on getting it done as a sort of present to myself for surviving all those years at school xD

Basically, I want the top of my ear pierced, I'm not sure what the proper name...

for this piercing is (I think it might be 'helix' piercing but I'm not sure so I'll add a photo so you can see what I mean )

Can anyone give me any idea of cost (I'm in the UK), and I your opinions on how painful it is if you have it? I know not everyone's pain threshold is the same but I just want a general idea.

Right, yes helix piercing. It's gonna cost between £15 and £25. A place that asks for more is ripping you off big style. *Always*, I can not stress enough how important this is, get a piercing done at tattoo dn piercing parlour. *Never* somewhere like Claire's or a hairdressers, they are in experienced and not properly qualified.

I got mine done and honestly, for me, it hurt no more than a normal ear piercing. Although if you research past questions like this there is some people who have said it's really painful. If you want my advice just go for it! make sure you do proper research and that it is right for you, your putting a hole in your skin so don't think about it lightly. Good luck

it doesnt hurt when they pierce it but after you'll wish you were dead!! and it gets infected for like the first two months

I know everybody has one but its NOT worth it at all

just don’t get it done by some inexperienced idiot at a salon or mall who uses the gun
those people aren’t professional piercers’, they have no training
no idea of what can go wrong and were not to pierce
and the gun is full of germs from other peoples blood because they cant sterilize it
also its blunt, which is about as good as shoving a nail through your skin
it will make it take a lot longer to heal
if you want a real piercer you get it don’t with a surgical steel needle
the process is simple
they clamp your upper ear, stick a hollow needle through
then thread the jewelry through the needle
as for the cost? around $10-$40
but you should expect to pay around $20-$30
