Hi kmclaughlin,
Since you are trying to dye your hair back but it's two different shades, it's going to be difficult to get them to both be the same shade. If you're planning on going to a salon to have it re-highlighted, I would just go to the salon and have them dye it back to your natural color. That way the results will be more predictable.
Good luck!
Hi,
I had the same exact problem. My hair is dirty blonde and the hairdresser out highlights.A little too thick, kind of looked like stripes.Wasn't bad but not really me so she put a toner in and most of it disappeared and I was left pretty much the same. A different hair dresser told me to use Dawn dish liquid to wash my hair a few times and that will take some of toner out and get highlights back but not too obvious. She said only use Blue Dawn,no other color.I tried it once so far but not much changed. Not that this has much to do with your problem but if you get a toner it will calm down the highlights and then wash with dawn just a few times.
Hi
I have been a hairdresser for 5 years now - I would suggest you have a professional hairdresser do the whole thing for you!
personally if you were my client I would suggest low lighting you hair with a colour that matches you natural colour: this would save you money and would cause less damage and you would finish up with your desired look I.e. your natural colour with a few highlights left over
A week ago I had thick highlights done. my hair is naturally black and wanted a rich brown color with some highlights. My hairdresser did thick highlights on just the crown of my head b/c she said black would be hard to get it dark brown. So, she bleached my hair and used a toner but I do not like this color brown. Would it be bad to color my hair again and get the color I wanted?

Can i dye my hair after highlights?
My hair is naturally a medium brown. It has a lot of blonde highlights right now. I want to dye it back to my natural color because there are too many highlights. I plan on highlighting it again but with thinner streaks. I want to color it back on...
my own, then go to a salon to have it re-highlighted. Are there any concerns with doing this? I was told that store bought dye would discolor my hair. Is that true?
