Why do I need a credit card to use my itunes giftcard?

Ok so yeah the fat man in the red suit this year went all out, and got me my precious iPod Nano...whom I have fallen for fast...haha no im kidding but...so yeah I also recieved this iTunes Video Card. For...about $25. Im all excited...and such of the suchness...until...I type in the redeem code. it says I dont have an account...so I try and resister for one...I get all the way to the bloody end...and...

I dont have a friggin credit card. is there any way around this? it just ticks me off... because...why need a credit card...if im not all upgraded and only have a gift card? why isnt it freakin working?

Do you have a check card it will work the same as a credit card.
