There is NO problem wanting to help animals instead of humans. Helping is what is important. I spend my weekends managing at the local Humane Society where I live. It makes me happy, and I don't regret the choice for an instant. I get to spend my Sunday mornings saving dogs' lives instead of sleeping in, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
Do what your heart tells you.
Maybe you feel better helping animals than people because it is safer in a lot of ways, anyway you should do what you feel comfortable doing. If you are not comfortable helping humans it could show up in many ways with your dealings with them, also it can burn you out so you will quit then no one is getting helped, neither animal or human. Stick to what issue you can best address, I hope this helps you and good luck

Does this make me a bad person?
I want to do something meaningful with my time and make a difference. I live near sf, ca where there are a lot of homeless people.
I'm debating with myself whether I should volunteer to feed (time, not money) the homeless or volunteer to save...
animals (dogs) from animal shelters and help them find forever loving homes. Is it wrong that I'm even debating and I should automatically want to help people instead of animals? I was told that I should help humans, not animals.
