Does this make me a bad person?

I want to do something meaningful with my time and make a difference. I live near sf, ca where there are a lot of homeless people.

I'm debating with myself whether I should volunteer to feed (time, not money) the homeless or volunteer to save animals (dogs) from animal shelters and help them find forever loving homes. Is it wrong that I'm even debating and I should automatically want to help people instead of animals? I was told that I should help humans, not animals.

There is NO problem wanting to help animals instead of humans. Helping is what is important. I spend my weekends managing at the local Humane Society where I live. It makes me happy, and I don't regret the choice for an instant. I get to spend my Sunday mornings saving dogs' lives instead of sleeping in, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Do what your heart tells you.

mate your making the effort to put time into something meaningful, no matter which one you choose you are not a bad person!! quite the opposite really! since you are giving your time to charity you have the luxury of choosing whatever one you want!

Helping People should definitely be the priority !!
