Does my crush like me back?

I had this crush on this guy I didn’t know very well so I decided to add him on msn and talk to him and get to know him more. This went well after a week and I started to flirt with him a bit. He didnt reply. The next day I tried talking to him on msn and he was replying fine. At school he said hi to me first once when he was alone. And now all of a sudden, hes not replying my msn. And I never see him at school because we are not in any classes together. Why is he avoiding me? He is really shy and never went out with anyone. His closest friends doesn’t even know who he liked/likes. He also doesn’t talk to people first. His friends always starts the conversation. I also caught him staring at me during lunch break while he was in his friend group and when he saw that I was staring at him too he hid behind his friend so we cant see each other. What does this all mean?
