Does anyone know where the scoring system came from for tennis?

like the 15-0 30-0 45-0 scoring system for tennis, anyone know where it came from???

I didn't know so I went and did some searching. Because, honestly, I have always wondered that myself.

0, 15, 30, 40, game.

it's all the european's idea.

they use a clock-like instrument to keep score. so the game scoring goes from 0 - 15 - 30 - 40.
they did not use 1-2-3-4, because it may confuse with the game score.

that was one response I saw. here is the other.

That's funny I love the game for watching and playing, but the only clue I have vis-a-vis scoring is the zero, a circle, was called l'oeuf , French for egg, the shape of a zero. That evolved so they started calling zero 'love',
Otherwise, 30-30 is called 'minideuce' or 'small deuce' for obvious reasons

I thought it was odd/ oh yeah. I forgot to cite this.
