I would have no problems paying what we are paying for gas if the money was going towards improving infrastructure and investment in alternaitive energy sources. I do have a huge problem when the money is going into the coffers of bush's pals in the oil industry and the saudis.

cough...sorry, it's too not to high wink You used the preposition, not the modifier.

And yes, gas prices in America are too high...but, it's less here than some other countries, though oil exporting countries typically have lower prices.

happy Alternative energy is an important strategic issue for the US...and the latest invasions haven't really helped on that front. But, I hear our president vice president made out like real life bandits.

Not just America. Big controversy over here in Australia too. Ruddkipz is trying to fix it, though. Apparantly it's too high for the average family, and along with the grocery prices gone up, some people cant cope.

Which is just stating the obvious :/

If it gets some of the damned SUV's off the road, it's at least got a silver lining.

The US still has the lowest fuel prices of just about any developed nation in spite of the tripling of fuel prices over the last 10 years. But, expect prices to continue to rise.

Here's what's happening in the US. Bush has adopted a guns and butter fiscal policy. This gets financed through debt, which devalues the dollar. The value of the dollar relative to other currencies has dropped in half since the March 2002, and relative to hard currencies (gold and silver), it's dropped by 2/3.

In other words, if not for Bush' policies, the price of gas in the US would probably be around $1.50/gallon right now.

It's not becauseof greedy oil companies, it's not because OPEC is squeazing us, it's not because of a drop in supply, or new consumption in China, it's because of Bush and his spendthrift Republican cohorts.

People complain that the US is 'addicted to oil', and then also complain about high gas prices. Hypocritical if you ask me. Prices go up enough, people won't want to pay for gas, hence there would be considerable less consumption. Problem solved.
