Do you believe/ think women have more rights?

wutang again and again Asked by wutangfan 4 months ago, 3 answers.

Ok I know this question is gonna cause a lot of controversy but last night I came across this website about who has more right's men or women. Here's some examples.1) A woman can kill her husband and say it was in self defense, and end up getting no or...

very little jail time, Where as if a man commits the same crime gets a harsher sentence. 2) A woman can yell out rape to the first guy she see's without any evidence and win in court. 3) A woman can sue where she works and just say she did it for sexural hassesment and win in court. What do you think. And please I think both men and women have the same rights, So don't get mad or offended.

Uhm none of that is true... What is true is that most of the domestic violence victims are female, 80% of domestic violence related homicides are women, the DA needs evidence of rape to convict, women dont earn the same as men in the same jobs, women with families make up the majority of the poor, and women are the majority of sexual harassment victims and often have no recourse. So, if any of the above was true, yes, absolutely the system would be one sided. But it isnt... so...

Men and women have different rights. Progressives have been trying to amend the constitution such that men and women would have equal rights since the 1920's but have been thwarted with every attempt. I really thought it had a chance in the 1970s when even Betty Ford supported it but it didn't pass. Since the rise of the religious right in the 1980's the climate hasn't been as favorable for the ERA.

Nobody has the right to kill their spouse except in self-defense. Juries may be more likely to accept the self-defense argument from a defendant that is a woman than a man but this is not a right, it is an example of prejudice. Rape convictions without physical evidence are difficult to win so prosecutors generally won't even try. It is also difficult to win a claim of sexual harassment against an employer without collaborating testimony or evidence.
