Do you believe brand name equals good quality?

jacked his hat. & that's my vietnamese name Asked by merriemac 2 months ago, 7 answers.

I just want some opinions on what you think about brand name stuff. Can non brand name things be good quality do you think? Are the popular labels always better quality??? Examples???

What made me ask this question is that...
I recently bought some eyeshadows much lower than the price of mac eyeshadows I usually buy...and guess what. I'm liking it better. It's more and it applies very well. And I usually test eyeshadows by dabbing a little on my forearm. Mac comes off when I rub. & this one does not. Is mac suppose to do that?

Depends on the item and the brand.

Some brand names do represent quality.

Some brand names only represent clever marketing of mediocre products.

I agree with filletofspam. Have you ever tried Del Monte ketchup... it is terrible. The store brand is much better. When it comes to toilet paper, I am all about spending the extra dollar for some lotion ripples. Target's store brand (Archer Farms) is awesome. I have loved everything I've tried. As far as make up goes, I have some Clinique lip gloss that I think is terrible. Some people swear by it though.

Sometimes, No, one example is washing powder - the well-known 'Tide' brand box comes down the production line and say 'Dollar' box is right behind - both will be filled by the same machine on the line, same powder.

Most of the time, yes. That is why it is more expensive.

I disagree with the above. I would have to say that fillet said it best. Some items are more popular bc society has made it that way. And as amblessed said... a lot of the off brand products are made by the same exact companies. I used to know a list of them but I've forgotten.

for futurejoejonaswife, well don't you think if you try expensive stuff, it wouldn't get ruined so quickly like the cheap stuff would???

for example: if you buy an old car, it would be a lot cheaper than a new one of course, but it would also have a greater chances of breaking down sooner. right??
