Do whites truly like blacks?

My dad told me about the atlantic slave trade which took place long time ago. He said the whites hated the blacks so much. When they came to africa, they started exchanging goods like ivory, gold e.t.c for goods like textile, bangles etc. But after some time, the whites started kidnapping people (africans). And they tied them up with chains. They travelled to america through the atlantic ocean. So they became slaves to the whites. Some were killed on the way to america when they resisted and some had to endure till they finished the 3 months journey. That is why there are black americans in america because the people did not know the way back to africa so they had to settle there. Do whites still hate blacks?

Some do - because they are racist which is really low.
I don't see how anyone could judge others because of their race, the colour of your skin says nothing about who you are on the inside. There will always be racist people in the world - its something society is always going to struggle with unfortunately.

That was a LONG time ago. Most whites do not hate blacks. In fact most of us wish we could get a lot of blacks to look away from the events of the past and realize its no longer like that. I personally find that part of history not only embarassing and stupid but truly, truly horrid. Im also sorry if you feel hatred coming from some whites but know that they are the one with the problem, not you. How is having darker skin a problem anyway lol?

Doing some research on the subject will help you get a good understanding of the history - blacks are not hated where I live.

I agree with gothicblood on the fact that, there is racism against almost every race on this planet, a lot of people are not racist, but some still are, and personally I think they need to stop living under a rock and realize that its the 21st century and that despite the color of your skin, everyone has the same color heart.

there are some racist people in the world. but it seems like everyone hates something. not only race, but sexual orientation. some people hate gay people for no reason. its so stupid. everyones the same. where I live, the black people are the coolest people in schooll. a long time ago I had a friend that said that she didnt hate black people, but she thought that they hated her because she was white. such a confusing situation.
anyway, no one I know hates blacks. but I do know A LOT of people who hate gays now. people these days.

Some do and some do not. I care for all my friends regardless of their color. After all, we're all the same underneath. As one wise person once said, "We're all African - it's just that some of us left Africa sooner than others." I find that a poor reason to hate.

I do not hate blacks, but if you are going to research the african slave trade of the past I believe you will find that it was BLACK AFRICANS that were capturing and selling other black africans from other tribes, if the white slave traders weren't driving the demand for slaves, there still would have been slavery on the african continent.
slavery is something that nearly all of our nationalities have had to endure at one time or another.
THAT BY NO MEANS MAKES IT RIGHT, but it is just something to consider when discussing slavery- it was a horrible thing that nearly all nationalities were guilty of, and suffered from.
the current slavery issues would be DRUG ADDICTION, and PROSTITUTION, rid the world of those travesties- and we would be on the right path to all of us getting along.

Racism is wrong but it exists. Through open communication and understanding things will improve. Not all whites hate African Americans, not all African Americans hate whites. Nothing is ever that clear cut.
I think it is great that you and your father had this discussion. Now go and do some more research...He will be proud and maybe you can impress him with your knowledge on the subject.
It is your culture, your history...learn as much as you can.

baldwinwolf you do make a valid point about the African slave trade. And the practice of taking slaves had been going on in both Africa and Europe for centuries prior to the African Diaspora.

However, the demand for slaves from Africa by European settlers came about mostly because the previous source of free labor, the American Indian civilizations, had been wiped out from disease, war, and outright abuse. The next closest source of easily subjugated labor was in western Africa. There would not have been such an enormous demand for slaves from this region without European settlement of the Americas.

why should we hate blacks? I mean, just because of their skin colour?

I am white, I don't hate blacks.. My family is pretty racist tho.. Always making jokes about blacks and mexicans and basically anyone whio's different.. I never stand up to them, but I have many friends who are not white, and many friends who are. So, yes and no. There's people like me who don't care about your looks and color, poeple like my family, who makes jokes about it, and people who won't let their children be friends with anyone with a differnent skin color.

depends on who you are some whites like black some don't. now personally I think it is not what is on the outside what is on the inside. others think different. I have a lot of black mates. you get the American show that take the mickey of blacks (bear in mind they do that to everyone). so the answer to "Do whites truly like blacks?" is yes and no.

some people who dislike their culture are mistakenly considered as racist.and yes they have a different culture than what we call caucasian. I know people who absolutely hate the mtv culture completely (rap,hip hop and the culture for which it stands),but have nothing against blacks themselves. but these people don't hang with blacks and therefore many people ,as is I said,mistakenly consider people who feel like this as racists./

I think some whites do but I sure dont I have a lot of black friends and they are no different from white people.I dont get why white people hate the blacks so much.
