Is it ok to date someone right after being dumped?

Is it ok to date someone else within a week of being dumped by the guy you have been dating for a year? My boyfriend sent me a text message a little but ago after a year of dating me saying that it's over...

I think he dumped me because I wouldn't...

First off, I want to commend you on not giving yourself to him. If that was the reason for him ending the relationship, then you did the right thing.

If you want to start dating because you actually like the guy, then go for it, but if your only doing it to get back at your ex, dont. Think about the guy you'll be using. He doesnt deserve to get the brunt of all your hurt. The best way to get back at your ex is for him to see how happy you are without him.

I guess it's okay to date now but I would think if you two were that serious for about a year, you would need more time but don't date if you're only planning to rub it in his face.

But 'rubbing it in your ex's face' should not be the focal point of your next relationship. It shouldn't even be a factor. It's just childish to think that way... and unfair to the new guy...
