What is wrong with you people. There is nothing wrong with celebrating the fact that this country elected its first black president. It is an historic moment. Being proud of the fact the he was elected doesn't mean people voted for him only because he is black. They voted for him because of his policy positions, his leadership, and his ability to inspire. They voted for him because he was the most qualified.

So stop with the racist rants like I'm getting tired of black people acting like martin luther king is back walking around.

It is VERY significant that we have elected the first black president, so get over it.

Its great hes won, I support him all the way.
But him being HALF black isn't why I like him. His policies are fantastic. That's what people should be concerned about, not his skin color.
He's also very charismatic, something America needs.

I'm getting tired of black people acting like martin luther king is back walking around I'm happy we have a good president but what makes me sad is most people are just concerned a black man won and aren't even thinking about how he is going to help America.

also he is just as much white as he is black lmao

Well first of all I think you need to learn to spell president. Amazing how you actually knew how to spell Barack's name right. Secondly I'm growing tired of how everyone is saying it's so great because black people have equal rights now. I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but black people in America have had equal rights for quite some time now,if not greater rights in some cases. It is sad to see that a lot of people did vote for Barack simply because he would be the first non-white president. Because his political views aren't that great. It's a shame to see that the color of one's skin has become a bigger deciding factor in a presidential election than the things that really matter.

I agree with southersixx, lordlrond, colorfuldolface, and ncchilddu90. It is said to know that many people voted on him because his is half black. Doesnt what he has to say on America have to do with anything anymore, which buy the way half his promises he has already said he might not be able to keep. He did what he had to in order to when. And yes McCain made a mistake picking Pallen, I beleive that is what lost him many votes. And it is people like you who say hurray hurray our 1st black president that makes this thing a racial issue. I am not racist but to me it is no historic thing.

Its confirmation that the vast majority of people of other races no longer discriminate against blacks as previously thought, of course its historic

I agree with everyone else, its gettin VERY old coming on here and seein every other question bein bout the election. I mean what happened to the rule or whatever of not havin the same questions bein posted over and over?? im not worried bout his color or anything, im just worried how he is going to handle our country. its a big step for our country, yes. and im glade that the blacks can be proud of this. im not racist, but we've had our celebration now its time to see if he's as great as everyone thinks he is. oh and there are still other racist people around here, im afraid for his life. may God watch over him and that he'll seek God's counsel during his presidency.

LOL YOU GUYS ACT LIKE THERE WEREN'T WHITE PEOPLE WHO WOULDN'T VOTE FOR OBAMA BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT HE WAS BLACK. WHICH IS WAYYY WORSE THAN A BLACK PERSON VOTING FOR OBAMA BECAUSE HE IS BLACK.

It is a historic thing. I celebrate everyday! This is going down in our history books. They won't put a big picture of George W. Bush in your childrens or grandchildrens history books. Nope, it'll be a picture of Barack Obama. And it doesn't matter how much of a percentage he is black. His skin is black, so that's how people interpret him. You guys are sooo jealous, obviously. haha. This is ridiculous. And no it's not like Martin Luther King Jr. is walking around, but this is what Martin Luther King Jr. walked for! EQUAL rights in America! And it hasn't always been that way, until now. Not fully yet, but someday it will be. This is just leading up to it! And you're totally bullsh*ttin if you say blacks are just as equal as whites. It might be 2008 but you have to remember that blacks and whites were still segregated in the early sixties. That wasn't that long ago.

Some of you people disgust me.

I'll remember this day for the rest of my life. It's crazy to me. I mean, we did have slavery in the U.S. Didn't you guys ever read up on that? Well, I think it's time to educate yourself.

Who or what he is is irrelevant.

Is he qualified for the job? That is the question, and always should have been.

There is nothing else to be said.

As Dr King said, a man should be judged by the 'Content of his character', not the 'Color of his skin'.

I don't care if he's black or white...it remains to be seen whether he was the most suited for this position.

Obviously, most people are not color blind, if they were, this black president thing wouldn't be such an issue. He's a human, and let's hope people voted for him for the right reason.
