Cramps generally do not cause you to have a fever. Cramps can be pretty darn painful. Some women are bedridden for days due to them. You have had kidney stone attacks before, was it anything like that? Due to the fact that you have a fever and history of kidney stones, I would definitley see a doctor to rule it out as well as anything else (ie appendicitis)

Cramps or kidney stones??

Cramps or kidney stones??
So I started my period yesterday, and I've never ever had any cramps before today. I often suffer with kidney stones too, so I'm not sure if I had a kidney attack or if it was actually cramps I had for the first time.
How bad can period cramps be? I was...
in pure agony for 2 hours, I did pass out once (luckily I was laying in bed), pain would come and go in waves, getting increasingly worse, had MAJOR hot flashes/fever, felt nauseous and constantly felt like I had to pee.
I'm still very sore, but not as bad as what it was this afternoon. The pain I feel is from my groin area and travels to my left side. My left side feels very weak, and it still is uncomfortable to be sitting here. I've been taking extra strength advil to take the edge off the rest of the pain, and to keep my 102 fever down.
I have had several major kidney stone attacks in the past... if you haven't ever had them... they say it's more painful to suffer through a kidney stone attack than to have natural labour/childbirth (I can't relate... but I guess other women have). :-) So I do have a high pain tolerance, and I was very close to going to the ER today but luckily my pain did calm down by a ton *phew*.
So what do you think, does this sound like it was just cramps or should I go in and have a CT scan done on my kidneys??
