Colouring relaxed hair, is it safe?

Asked by rosariaanel 6 months ago, 3 answers.

Can I safely colour my relaxed hair? It is very dark brown at the moment but I would like it to be medium to light brown? Would it damage my hair to put colour oover my relaxed hair and can anyone recommend any brands of hair colour?

yes its possible, and I wont hurt your hair, you might have to dye it twice to get it light, but it all depends on you

Yes you can colour your relaxed hair...it is possible... When you relax you hair wait at least two weeks before putting the colour in because with relaxer you are basically 'forcing your hair straight with chemicals' so your hair needs a little time to recover. So just wait a few weeks and go right ahead

The only way your hair will get damaged or suffer from breakage is if you don't take care of it. Relaxed hair (especially if you colour it) needs to be moisturized regularly and given treatments to avoid your hair from looking dull and breaking easily

If you think that the hair colour will be too harsh or your still afraid you could just put a rinse over your hair this works just as good as regular hair colour except that a rinse is not permanent and comes out when you shampoo your hair. Btw, you can apply the rinse to your hair immediately after you relax it unlike the colour

Hope I helped

Some info: Although do-it-yourself highlights and hair-color kits are easy and inexpensive, the results are almost always not in your best interest. Get a recommendation for a good stylist and consult with him or her (as well as your parents!) before you decide to change your hair color. There are infinite shades of "blonde," "red," "brown," or even "black." A stylist can help you pick the best one for your skin tone. Also, your current hair-color might react to certain dyes.
