Color of flowers

how would I find out what the different colors of flowers mean and the different types mean too? I'm looking for a flower to give to a friend that is going back to school to retrain for a better career. something to inspire them and show the regrowth of flower/person.

In general, colors of roses:

Red: romantic love
Purple: loveat first sight.
Coral and orange: desire.
Yellow: joy and friendship.
Pink: gratitude and appreciation.
Light pink: admiration and sympathy.
Peach: either sympathy or gratitude.
White: reverence and humility.
