R CHORDS ON A GUITAR REAL IMPORTANT TO LEARN?!?!

I KNOW HOW TO READ N' PLAY A TAB SHEET BUT NOT REALLY HANDY W/CHORDS...SHULD I TAKE THE TIME TO LERN THEM?!

they aren't necessary. but yeah, I'd suggest learning them. some music you can only find online in chords. you can play off of just tabs, but yeah... learn em if you can.
