How to get my chihuahua mix to stop jumping?

Okay, so I have a chihuahua mix... there is only one problem. I cannot get him to stop jumping! Whether is jumping from furniture to furniture, on people, on the window, in the air. He is a very smart dog and knows how to do tricks and obey, even without treats except for when it comes to jumping. does anyone have any ideas on how to get him to stop? I play with him outside and take him on walks and runs.

I have a chihuahua named Bailey. It's just the breed, they can get overexcited. Especially when they are bored or new people come in the house. We just love them anyway, dont we?

no actually is not just the breed it all depends on how you excersice him and if you dont exersice him enough the dog may become very bored. so its very important you walk your dog every day for at leat 30 minutes if possible more.

but if you do excersise hi and his still doing this you need to buy a spray bottle and everytime he jumps or does anything you dont like him doing then you sqirt hi with water always keep the spray bottle near you so you can correctr you dog as soon as he dos something wrong.

I did this with my chihuahua mix male he did the same thing and after trying this he never did it ever again.

if you use the spray bottle tequnique he wont like to play in the water or take baths because he'll asscioate water with punishment. makes sence doesnt it?

Yep! And yes, it IS the breed.

no its not and he or she will not be scared of the water just the water in the spray water which will make him or her want to behave better I have done this with all my dogs and there well behaved and love to swim they just dont like it when I bring out the spray bottle and never do what they did wrong. so just my opinion and I have chihuahuas and chihuahua mixes and there not so hyper and jump all over the place there actually well behave if you give them the right excersice actually.

Thanks for the advice!! I've tried the water bottle thing and he loves water lol. It just makes him even more hyper.

and I do think its the breed somewhat, I just think he is a really hyper dog! And he isn't even a year old yet, so he is still a puppy. that could have a lot to do with it!
