I haven't read the article but I've seen similar instances in the animal kingdom. They have somehow learned that mosquitoes don't attack millipedes so they rub the millipedes on their fur so that whatever the millipedes are secreting will be rubbed off onto their fur thereby giving them protection from the mosquitoes.

I havent read it wither
but im pretty sure mosquitoes over there wont like the smell of millipedes
and lots of animals, including monkeys have evolved to learn beter ways to repel persts and other things
so buy covering themselves in the milliedes smell the mosquitoes will stay away
much like bug repellent

I have not read the article but can tell you this:

Its important because it means that monkeys have a thought process even if its just cause and effect. ... If I rub this big worm on me instead of eating it, mosquitos don't bite
Benzoquinones is the thing we use to make Benzol ointment to stop allergic reactions. so we can even learn something from them... when was the last time we used benzol to avoid mosquitos? maybe its in the OFF sprays, but I doubt it happy

they have reached a level of intelligence that rivals humans, save by one thing.
our classication is HOM- O(man sorry this thing won't let me spell it right) Sapien (smart)
The monkeys (and previously chimps) have learned how to use a tool
This case a millipede, (chimps use spit soaked twigs to get termites)
.
The only major difference is that we can call ourselves Ho m o Sapien Sapien
Really smart man ... why??
Because we make tools to make tools ( build a factory to build cars... create rope to create a fishing net... etc...) monkeys and chimps have not made a tool to create a tool.
if a Chimp gets a rock (hammer) to break a branch (sword) used in war... we are equals. Yes they do war... we are equals in that matter already/ They throw rocks underhand and throw branches overhand.
