Actually they say that bananas and avocados are two foods that have everything that a person needs to survive. I believe they even contain the same amount of protein that the WHO (World Health Organization) recommends you intake. It should be 5% of your diet and bananas are about 5% protein! I think that's why monkeys can survive off of bananas. But I suppose I would be cautious of avocados because of it being a really fatty fruit. And as for the comment about the Irish... I have read that during those hard times they survived off of potatoes and milk. Although it doesn't sound like much and definably doesn't meet food pyramid guidelines, it is said that a combination of potato skins and buttermilk have almost all of your essential vitamins and minerals that is needed for a human body. I would assume that the calorie intake in order to nourish yourself from just these two may be high, but the protein and other information just may have been spot on. Also during those hard times for the Irish they worked a lot at difficult jobs that were physically demanding and if you work in those conditions you should have a higher calorie intake. So basically food is a wonderful, well thought out thing that is taken advantage of and I believe that you would be much better off living off of something like bananas or avocados than some of these microwavable meals and fast foods products that many people and children are living and being raised on.
yes you would be able to live off of breast milk but in order to do that then your mother or the person supplying the milk would have to get good nutrician! MILK FROM OTHER ANIMALS IS ACTUALLY BAD FOR YOU THAT IS WHY OVER 80% OF AMERICANS ARE LACTOSE INTOLERANT BECAUSE THE OTHER 20% HAVE A MUTATED GENE THAT ALLOWS THEM TO DRINK MILK AND NOT GET SICK FROM IT! THE MOST HEALTHY IS FROM YOUR MOTHER AND IT HAS EVERY VITAMIN AND NUTRICIAN IN IT! BUT NOT EVERYONE WOULD BE ABLE TO SURVIVE THIS WAY BACAUSE THE PERSON SUPPLYING THE MILK WOULD HAVE TO HAVE EXCELLENT NUTRICIAN!! AND GET ENOUGH VITAMINS THAT IS WHY THEY TAKE PRENATAL VITAMINS BECAUSE THE CHILD IS TAKING a lot OF THE MOTHERS VITAMINS! SO NOONE CAN SURVIVE ON ONE TYPE OF FOOD EXEPT BREAST MILK BUT NOT EVERY ONE IN THE WORLD COULD DO THIS BECAUSE WHOEVER IS SUPPLYING THE MILK NEEDS TO EAT MANY DIFF FOODS IN ORDER TO GET THE RIGHT NUTRITION AND VITAMINS I HOPE I ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION!!
People absolutely need fat to survive. If you consider peanut butter to be one food that could well be your best bet. If you are only eating one food, I bet you would last longer on Reese's Peanut Butter cups than bananas, sweet potatoes, or even avocados Though in terms of a balanced diet most of us should eat more bananas, etc...and less candy!

No, a person can not survive off of one type of food. In fact, if you eat too much of one type of food your body will start to feel sick at so much as the thought of that type of food. This is because the brain will naturally cause a taste aversion in an effort to make you eat a well rounded diet and in order to get all the nutrition that your body requires as a human. It actually happens to other animals as well, which is why lions and other predatory animals don't always hunt, even if there is easy prey nearby.
