Can I move out and live with my grandma?

Hey I am about to be 17 in 2 days me and my dad do not get along at all can I legally move out and move in with my grandma? is there anythang he can do to stop me?

depends on the state but im pretty sure in most you are able to move out and change your legal guradian

Have you checked w/your grandma yet if you can move in w/her? Might be a good idea before making any plans. And it really depends on the state. In Illinois the age is 17!

Legally, you must be your states 'age of majority' or obtain an emancipation order from the Court..Good luck !!

If you are moving in with your grandmother it is considered a civil dispute so the state can't get involved. Which also means that your father can't do anything about it. You just couldn't move in with someone outside of the family.
