Can I move out at age 17 in Pennsylvania?

I am 17 and have graduated from high school. My parents signed their rights of me over to the navy but I do not leave for a couple more months. Am I able to legally move out of my parents house before I leave for the Navy?

Answer #1

Legally, it appears, either 18 or an approved Emancipation order from the Court or indeed, the Navy may have jurisdiction - check with them…I wish you the very best and ‘thank you’ for your upcoming service.

PENNSYLVANIA LAW:

Age Emancipation petition allowed: under age 18 1 PaCS § 1991 Age of Majority: 18 23 PaCS § 5302

Your parents only sign a consent form to allow you to join the Navy before the age of 18 but you won’t be in the Navy until you have been sworn in. Once you raise your hand and take the oath you’ll be off to Boot Camp. Then you’ll probably wish you were back home. I know I did, esp while in boot.
