Vegetables
Calories
Small baby potatoes— 4 baby potatoes 160
Mashed potatoes mixed with low fat milk 180
Sweet Potato 1/2 cup mashed Add teaspoon butter and sugar if desired.220 with butter/sugar
Spinach (1/2 cup 20
Squash (1/2 cup) 20
Green Beans (1/2 cup) 20
Cabbage (1/2 cup)15
Broccoli (1/2 cup) 12
Cauliflower (1/2 cup) 12
Corn (1/4 cup) 30
Carrots (1/2 cup) steamed or boil. 35
Green Peas 1/4 cup 35
One thing I'd add to brighteyez post is that most vegetables are very low calorie. Green beans, spinach, cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower are 12-20 calories per 1/2 cup. You could eat bowl after bowl of these and not eat a lot of calories. One of the best ways to loose weight is to simply eat more vegetables so you will fill up before you eat too much more fattening foods. Starchy vegetables have more calories but even these aren't that bad. A 1 lb baked potatoe is huge yet only has 300 calories by itself. If you slather it with butter and sour cream the number of calories skyrocket. I like my baked potatoes with navy beans on top instead of butter and sour cream. Another suggestion is salsa which a lot of people like.
