Do you guys and girls and adults think that if Arnold Schwartzennagger didn't mess with the states money that California would be fine, same with schools?

No, I don't think so. With the world's economy in the state that it is, I don't think we would have been much better off.

Arnold, as Governor, may head the state government but the legislature, which is a majority of democrats, runs the state. Arnold, a Republican, has little responsibility for the actions of the Democrats.

building on what ethmer said, California isn't a democracy...if you read up our our wacky system here, the state sentate isn't ruled by a simple majority.

*AND* the guy that held things up last time...was a Republican.

Just saying.

Also...let's get this fact out of the way: the gubernator came into office to *clean up* the mess left by Gray Davis, while he was an idiot, he DID want to sue Enron, etc, and get california BACK some of the money that was essentially stolen by the power companies. However, Arnold let those lawsuits drop and didn't pursue them...if we had that money back, we'd be better off.

Most recently, Arnold wanted to pay state workers less than the local in-and-out burger to work for the DMV, social services, etc...while most of those jobs require a 2 year+ education beyond high school, and in-and-out burger doesnt' even require a high school diploma OR G.E.D.

Fact is...California, being the largest economy in the entire United States, funds a LOT of the federal money that was wasted over the last 8 years or so (eg, the war in Iraq, etc) where OUR money goes out, we have less to spend here in our state.

That's not Arnold's fault...but, it's worth considering that in the US, the poor states are propped up by the rich states.

Due to it's high population densities and cost of living, California amplifies fundamental problems that exist everywhere in the US. California is showing us where all the states are eventually headed.
