There are a few ways to look at this (and, welcome to FunAdvice). One is that you can learn business from books (a lot of people do...) I've started 8 businesses my parents both have had businesses since I was a kid...I did get a business minor, but that was only six classes.
How often do you hear about somebody just 'picking up' biology, organic chem or another field in their free time? Or physics? Or math? Never
Business, though, is in simple terms just about buying low selling high...of course there is more than that, but, it's the center of it.
Imagine for a moment: if you go all the way get an MD degree...then, you can still do business you have a unique perspective...where if all you have is a business degree but you want to manage a medical field related business...the doctor with no business degree is the guy better suited for the job, as he understands what the business *does*...the rest is just making sure you keep costs lower than revenues.
My .02 cents...my major was Spanish, which has it's uses, but not really for what I've done professionally. If I could go back, I'd get a math major (even though it'd be hard) and then the same minor in business, as that would have fit better the businesses I ended up building.

Business degrees
I just recently decided to stray away from a degree in biological sciences (entering the medical field) and decided to move along on the path of business. I have failry reasonable grades and dont want to waste my time on a business degree that I cant...
use. I have a number of resources including my father who currently owns a number of business (I would like to follow in his footsteps). I'm unsure on what kind of degree that would be useful and something that would have some meaning to it. I've been thinking about it for a long time and the time to make a decision is NOW. any help would be great
