Did i break the washing machine?

Ok heres my story.I was told to go turn the washing machine on.I didnt hear it so I didnt.there were clothes in there with bleach in them.later that day I was told that I had ruined the wachien machine by not turning it on.they said it was either A-the...

bleach went into the motor or B-the machine was ruined because it was on pause for a long time with the lid open.so can someone help me.I dont even know if these people are telling the truth.

wow!! Don't you know that your supposed to turn on the water THEN put bleach and clothes in the washing machine!!

I don't really see how the motor could have been wrecked by the bleach, or how leaving the lid up can break it. I've left my lid up for days. Sounds a little suspicious to me.
