Do you c a scar...? If he had surgery...more than likely he was opened up where he has arthritis in that area...no one can guess how long he may live...ck into the history of the Boxer, you might find a estimate...all dogs very, some might live longer than others...for instance ; a chihuahua may live anywhere from 16 years or older...that is as long as they have good health...I had a chi/dash mix...she lived to be 22-1/2 years old...she was fixed...that could be why she was able to live so long...we had a purebred chi. she lived to be 16 years. she wasn't fixed...JMO, dichihuahua

Well, he is getting up there, but there's no say as to how long he'll live. The best thing you can do is love him while he's with you. But I do suggest getting some kind of medicine or therapy for him. It could be expensive, but he is worth it...right?
The average life span of a Boxer is 8-9, and 10-12...
He is getting around okay, right? He isn't miserable, and he is trying to live right?
Because he pretty old, just some research I was doing.
If he's in a lot of pain, think about what's best for him though.
Because the fact that he is over 8, and has arthritis, that concerns me.

The average life span for Boxers is 9 to 11 years old...give or take, a year, as they are individual...

Like other large breeds, getting arthritus is part of growing older...(small dogs get it too, but at an older age). Since your guy is still getting around, and he's an elder dog...you might want to talk to your vet about putting him on one of the NSADS (Non-steroidal anti-inflamitory drugs), to ease any pain he might be feeling.
