Border collies *please help me out*

Well everyone that reads my questions should know I’m getting a border collie. I need to know the behaviors and how to care for one. It would also be nice for any one that has a border collie to tell me how it went for the puppy stage (if it was easy to potty train when it was a pup), if it’s easy to teach tricks and if it’s nice.

I had one for 15 years before she died, best dog I ever had. Potty training is easy just be love and remeber it’s a baby.

Number one thing with a BC, is exercise…mentally and physically…BC’s will get themselves into trouble, if you don’t fill that need for body and mind. They are ultra-smart and ultra-busy…

Well each dog no matter the type is normally different to train It could be very stubborn or easy to deal with you wont really knwo that until you get it its best though to always have spare time to offer your dog so that it never gets mad at you they can and if they do its not pretty.

my boyfriend had a border collie, they are easy to train, but VERY energetic and need a big yard a lots of exercise, if you don’t give them attention they’ll probably irritate the whole neighbourhood by barking all day.

here are some links to websites that provide good information on their personalities etc.

I have a Border Collie mix named Callie. She is the SWEETEST dog I have ever owned. With all puppy training it takes patience and time. The worst thing about my BC is that she sheds A LOT. All dogs needs socialization with people and other dogs, and if you start this out as a puppy, it should go smoothly!

I have a gorgeous 1 year old collie called Stanley. He is still training to be a sheep dog, but is so loyal and obedient. Collies are the best choice of dog, and are so so smart. I would suggest getting a book specifically on collies. Also consider getting a short haired one because they are easier to maintain and dont trigger allergies. Either way have fun and good luck.
